Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving means making a donation to Shakespeare’s Globe directly from your salary. It is a great way for us to receive regular and reliable income, allowing us to make plans for the future, whilst ensuring immediate tax relief for you.
How does payroll giving work?
Your donation comes out of your salary before tax. For example, if you choose to give £10, the amount you actually pay is £7.80, even less if you are a higher rate tax payer.
How can I start payroll giving?
Setting up Payroll giving is simple:
1) Find out if your employer is registered with a Payroll Giving Agency. These agencies deal with distributing charitable donations. If they are not put them in touch with an approved agency and ask them to register.
2) Download a mandate form. Complete this and give it to your employer.
3) Then all your employer needs to do is take your donation out of your salary as a pre-tax deduction and send it to the Payroll Giving Agency with your mandate once a month. This is not complicated; most payroll systems are set up to do this.
